A massive volcanic eruption can cause the collapse of the volcanic vent resulting in a tsunami.


In 1883 a volcanic eruption destroyed 70% of the island of Krakatoa The mountain collapsed into the ocean. The collapsed volcano created a tsunami with a wave of 120 feet high. Over 36,000 people died as a result of the tsunami created by volcanic eruption.
