The red sea is part of a rift valley where a divergent zone is caused by an upwelling of of magma due a convection zone.

Explanation:

The Red Sea is part of the rift valley in Africa. The theory is that this is a place where the magma from the mantle is rising to the surface. As the hot magma reaches toward the surface of the earth it spreads out in two directions splitting the crust into two divergent tectonic plates. As the crusts spread apart the space between them fills with water creating lakes, and oceans.
