The Battle of the Bulge was an attempt by the Germans, led by Panzer divisions to break through the Allied positions and advance towards and seize Antwerp thus cutting off Allied supplies.
After initial successes, the Germans were stopped then pushed back. This was the last major offensive by the Germans in the West. From then on the Allies continued their advance into Germany which ended in defeat for Germany in 1945.
