Through Synapse.
Explanation:
Synapse is a microscopic gap between axon ending of pre-synaptic neuron and dendrites of post-synaptic neuron. Nerve impulse is transmitted from one neuron to the next through synapse.
Mechanism of Transmission:-
- An impulse reaches a synaptic knob.
- The synaptic knob has synaptic vesicles which are filled with neurotransmitters.
- These vesicles fuse with pre-synaptic membrane thus neurotransmitters are released into synaptic cleft(gap).
- The post-synaptic membrane have receptors. The neurotransmitters molecules bind to these receptors.
-The neurotransmitter changes the permeability of the post synaptic neuron for N#a^+# ions(b y opening sodium gates).
This change of ion start an action potential in the post-synaptic neuron which means the nerve impulse have been transmitted.
