How do plants avoid being eaten?

1 Answer

Plants have different strategies to protect themselves from being eaten.

Explanation:

Some plants have thorns which keep the herbivores away from them. Some plants produce latex by which they avoid being eaten away by herbivores. Some plants possess pungent aromatic compounds in their leaves and thus rescue themselves. Some plants release some chemicals in to the soil which keep different micro-organisms away from them. All these chemicals can also be called as alkaloids and man has found uses of those alkaloids produced by plants actually for their protection.
