Plant roots bind the soil particles together and prevent erosin.


Erosion is loss of top soil along with nutrients which takes place specially during rains.

  • Tree cover helps in reducing the impact of rain drops.
  • Grassy cover helps in reducing runoff.
  • Roots hold the soil particles together in place.

All this helps in preventing soil erosion, and also increases amount of groundwater recharge.
