How do producers make their own food?
Producers are termed autotrophs . These plants have a green pigment called chlorophyll, which traps sunlight needed for the process of photosynthesis.
Photosynthesis occurs in 2 steps:
- Light reaction or Hill's reaction
- Dark reaction or Blackmann's reaction
Light reaction occurs in light. During this step, photolysis of water occurs in presence of light.
During the dark reaction,
Glucose is converted later into starch and other organic compounds during various metabolic reactions.
