Solution: $x = 3 , y = \frac{1}{2}$

2 x +4 y =8 ; (1) , 3 x -4 y = 7 ; (2) Adding equation (1)

equation (2) we get, $2 x + \cancel{4 y} + 3 x - \cancel{4 y} = 8 + 7$

$\therefore 5 x = 15 \mathmr{and} x = 3$ Putting $x = 3$ in equation (1) we get,

$2 \cdot 3 + 4 y = 8 \mathmr{and} 4 y = 8 - 6 \mathmr{and} 4 y = 2 \mathmr{and} y = \frac{1}{2}$
