# How do you add sqrt6 + sqrt6?

Apr 13, 2015

In general, color(blue)(m*a + n*a = a*(m+n)

$\sqrt{6} + \sqrt{6}$ is the same as $1 \cdot \sqrt{6} + 1 \cdot \sqrt{6}$

$= \sqrt{6} \cdot \left(1 + 1\right)$

$= \sqrt{6} \cdot \left(2\right)$

$= 2 \cdot \sqrt{6}$

As $\sqrt{6} \approx 2.45$, the answer can be writen as

$\approx 2 \cdot 2.45 \approx 4.9$
