# How do you convert 325 kg into scientific notation?

Apr 3, 2015

$3.25 \cdot {10}^{2} k g$

You move the decimal point two to the left to leave one non-zero digit in front of it.

Two means $10$power is 2, left means positive power.

Extra:
In $k g$ you don't take the $k$-prefix out, as you would in $k m$
(where $12 k m = 12000 m = 1.2 \cdot {10}^{4} m$)
Because $k g$ is the standard SI-unit, and not $g$.
