Remember that #10^-3=1/10^3=1/1000#

Explanation:

So you divide #5.5/1000#

But you can also move the decimal point 3 places to the left, and pad zeroes to fill the empty places:

In both casesthe answer will be #0.0055#

Easy to remember: you now have 3 zeroes at the left side of your number (including the one in front of the decimal point)
