See the explanation.

Explanation:

The equality between grams and kilograms is $\text{1000 g=1 kg}$. This gives two equivalent fractions, also called conversion factors. They are $\text{1000 g"/"1 kg}$ and $\text{1 kg"/"1000 g"=1}$. Equivalent fractions or conversion factors always equal $1$. When converting grams to kilograms, you would use the second conversion factor. This will cancel grams and leave you with kilograms.

Examples

1) Convert $\text{692 g}$ to kilograms.

$692 \cancel{\text{g"xx(1 "kg")/(1000 cancel"g")="0.692 kg}}$

2) Convert $\text{58 g}$ to kilograms.

$58 \cancel{\cancel{\text{g"xx(1 "kg")/(1000 cancel"g")="0.58 kg}}}$
