How do you find the function rule if x is -1, 0, 1, 2 and y is 5, 6, 7, 8?

You first compare the #y#-steps to the corresponding #x#-steps.

You will notice that they both step up by #1# per step.
So the slope of the function is #1//1=1#

Second is to find the #y#-value for #x=0#
This gives us the #y#-intercept #6#

So the equation becomes:
#y=mx+b=1*x+6=x+6# (check the graph)
