How do you graph #5x+y>=-10#?

First, we can plot two of the points where #5x + y >= -10# to find the line which delineates the solution.

For #x = 0#:

#(5 * 0) + y = -10#

#0 + y = -10#

#y = -10# or #(0, -10)#

For, #x = -4#

#(5 * -4) + y = -10#

#-20 + y = -10#

#color(red)(20) - 20 + y = color(red)(20) - 10#

#0 + y = 10#

#y = 10# or #(-4, 10)#

Plot the two points draw a solid line through the two points. We are using a solid line because the inequality operator is "greater than or equal to". If the operation we just "greater than" we would use a dashed line.

And, because it is "greater than" we will shade everything to the right of the line.
