$7 \left(x + 2\right)$

$7 \cdot x + 7 \cdot 2$

$7 x + 14$

in order to solve for x assume, the equation to be equal to zero;

$7 x + 14 = 0$

subtract $14$ from both sides

$7 x + 14 - 14 = 0 - 14$

$7 x = - 14$

dividing both the sides by $7$ gives;

$\frac{7 x}{7} = - \frac{14}{7}$

$x = - 2$
