To simplify a square root, you factor what's inside the root into perfect squares and everything else. In this case, you can factor 44
into a product of 4 and 11:

4 is a perfect square, so you can take it out its root giving you the answer:

#2sqrt(11)#

11 is a prime number meaning you cannot factor it any further.
