#148 1/5#

Explanation:

#(2/5+11)xx(10-(-3))" "larr# simplify in each bracket first.

=#(11 2/5) xx(10+3)#

=#57/5 xx13/1#

This is now a normal multiplication of #57xx13# and then #div5#

=#741/5#

=#148 1 /5 = 148.2#

BUt maybe there is a method which makes the numbers simpler?

#57/5(10+3)" "larr# use the distributive law.

=#(57xxcancel10^2)/cancel5 + (57xx3)/5#

=#114 +171/5#

=#114 + 34 1/5#

=#148 1/5#

The calculations in the second method involved smaller numbers and are done easily without a calculator.
