$\left(5 q - 7\right) \cdot 3 = 2 \cdot 12$

$15 q - 21 = 24$

adding $21$ to both sides ;

$15 q - 21 + 21 = 24 + 21$

$15 q = 45$

dividing both sides by $15$

$\frac{15 q}{15} = \frac{45}{15}$

$q = 3$
