$y = 2 x + 3. \ldots \ldots \ldots \ldots \ldots \left(i i\right)$
Since the $L . H . S$ of $\left(i\right)$ and $\left(i i\right)$ are equal to the same variable $y$ therefore the $R . H . S$ of $\left(i\right)$ and $\left(i i\right)$ will also be equal.
$\implies 2 x + 3 = - 3 x + 8$
$\implies 5 x = 5$
$\implies x = 1$
Put $x = 1$ in $\left(i i\right)$
$\implies y = 2 \cdot 1 + 3$
$\implies y = 5$
