# How do you solve the following system?: 2x+5=-9y , 6x -12 = -3y

Dec 31, 2015

There are 3 *methods* to solve it. I am using substitution method.

#### Explanation:

This is how we do this:
$x = \frac{- 9 y - 5}{2}$ ( From equation 1)
putting the value of $x$ in equation 2
$6 \frac{- 9 y - 5}{2} - 12 = - 3 y$

$- 27 y - 15 - 12 = - 3 y$

$- 27 = 24 y$

$y = - \frac{27}{24}$
$\therefore y = - \frac{9}{8}$

Now put the value of $' y '$in the first equation to get the value of $' x '$
$H e n c e$ $s o l v e d .$
