$x = - 24, y = 51$ $x=-24, y=51$

multiply the second equation by 3

$\frac{3}{2} x + y = 15$ $3/2 x+y=15$

Now subtract the new equation from the first one.

$\frac{1}{2} x = - 12$ $1/2x=-12$

double it

$x = - 24$ $x=-24$

put this into equation one

$- 48 + y = 3$ $-48+y=3$

add 48

$y = 51$ $y=51$
