$x = \frac{55}{6}$ and $y = - \frac{9}{2}$

so ya wanna isolate y from $y + 2 y = - 2$

subtract 7 from both sides and ya get $2 y = - 9$

then ya wanna divide both sides by 2 getting ya $y = \frac{- 9}{2}$
and that gets ya $y = \frac{- 9}{2}$ :P

SOOOOO now we subsitube y into the other equation $3 x + 5 y = 5$
getting ya $3 x + 5 \left(\frac{- 9}{2}\right) = 5$ so lets simplify and get us a drum roll $3 x - 5 \cdot \frac{9}{2} = 5$ then $3 x - \frac{45}{2} = 5$

so now that we finished subsituting and simplifying we can now find le x

first add $\frac{45}{2}$ on both sides getting ya a jolly $3 x = \frac{55}{2}$

then let us divide both sides getting us $x = \frac{\frac{55}{2}}{3}$

and just when ya think ya think thats it..... you are almost correct we need to DESTROY BUILD .... but then not destroy cause that not needed ... that fraction which gives us the dank $x = \frac{55}{6}$
