$x=13/7$

$-6x-2y=-14$ --- (1)
$4x-y=6$ --- (2)

From (2),
$4x-y=6$
$y=4x-6$ --- (3)

Sub (3) into (1)
$-6x-2y=-14$
$-3x-y=-7$
$-(3x+y)=-7$
$3x+y=7$
$3x+4x-6=7$
$7x-6=7$
$7x=13$
$x=13/7$ --- (4)

Sub (4) into (3)
$y=4*13/7-6$
$y=10/7$
