$- 7 x + y = - 9. \ldots \ldots \ldots \ldots \ldots \ldots \ldots . . \left(i i\right)$

$\implies 2 y = - 11$

$\implies y = - \frac{11}{2}$

Put $y = - \frac{11}{2}$ in $\left(i\right)$

$\implies 7 x - \frac{11}{2} = - 2$ multiply both sides by $2$

$\implies 14 x - 11 = - 4$

$\implies 14 x = 7$

$\implies x = \frac{1}{2}$
