Given: #1/ 3x - 1/ 2y = 0" [1]"# and #1/ 2x + 1/ 4y = 4" [2]"#:

Multiply equation [2] by 2 and and to equation [1]:

#4/3x = 8#

#x = 6#

Use equation [1] to find the value of y:

#1/3(6)- 1/2y = 0#

#y = 4#

The solution is the point #(6,4)#
