Ignore the extra writing that is separated from the writing in the middle by lines. I use a sheet of paper for multiple maths equations.

We can check the answer by plugging in both x and y values into either one (or both) of the original equations.
In both cases, after solving, you'll find that, when x= -7 and y=3, the solution for the equations is 7=7 and 17=17, which is want we want.
(Note that I wrote x=7 on the bottom when in fact x= -7).
