The process is much the same as for numerical fractions.

Find a common denominator. In this case:

#(x-1)(2x+1)#

Then #(2x-1)/(x-1)# - #(32x)/(2x+1)# #=> ((2x-1)(2x+1) - (32x)(x-1))/((x-1)(2x+1))#

Multiply out numerator and collect like terms:

#(-28x^2 +32x -1 )/((x-1)(2x+1))#

This can't be simplified any further.
