A number line is a line which have negative digits on the left side and positive digits on the right side with the center and origin 0.


A number line have infinite number on each side. It can be helpful in addition and subtraction mainly involving negative numbers. But you can also do multiplication and division on the number line.

For example:

We are taking a very simple example here.


For this,

we will first go three steps from the origin #0# to #3#

Then we come back two steps towards the origin #0# from #3#. Getting us to #1#. Your answer!
