# How do you use the special product for squaring binomials to multiply (1/4t+2 )^2?

Nov 14, 2014

By using

${\left(a + b\right)}^{2} = {a}^{2} + 2 a b + {b}^{2}$,

we have

${\left(\frac{1}{4} t + 2\right)}^{2} = {\left(\frac{1}{4} t\right)}^{2} + 2 \left(\frac{1}{4} t\right) \left(2\right) + {\left(2\right)}^{2}$

$= \frac{1}{16} {t}^{2} + t + 4$

I hope that this was what you meant by "the special product."
