# How do you write an equation in standard form if its perpendicular to the y-axis and passes through (-2,5)?

A line perpendicular to the y-axis must be parallel to the x-axis . Hence, its gradient, $m = 0$.

$y = m x + c$

Putting in (-2,5) and $m = 0$

$5 = 0 \times - 2 + c$

$c = 5$

Hence;
