I'm not sure what your `n` represents (perhaps the ratio `x/(f(x))`)

A direct variation function has the form
`f(x) = c*x` for some constant `c` (perhaps `c` is your `n`?)

Given `f(2) = 8`
this becomes
`8 = c*2`
and `c=4`

So the direct variation equation is
`f(x) = 4*x`
