# How do you write sums in expanded form?

Feb 22, 2015

(Unfortunately this could be interpreted in a couple of different ways; I'm going to assume that you mean:

given a summation notated expression
express it as an expanded sum

Example
${\sum}_{i = 1}^{5} \left(\frac{2 {i}^{2}}{i + 1}\right)$

$= \frac{2}{3} + \frac{8}{3} + \frac{18}{4} + \frac{32}{5} + \frac{50}{6}$

(If this isn't what you are looking for, please clarify your question).
