# How do you write y=2x+1 in standard form?

Apr 29, 2015

The standard form of a linear equation is $a x + b y = c$

We can transpose $2 x$ to the left hand side to get

$y - 2 x = 1$

$\to - 2 x + y = 1$

Multiplying both sides with $- 1$ gives us

color(green)(2x - y = -1 is the Standard form of $y = 2 x + 1$
