Acetylcholine binds to certain receptors in the bloodvessels, triggering the reaction.

Explanation:

On the inside of all bloodvessels (as well as lymphatic vessels) is a thin layer of endothelial cells. These contain AcetylCholine -sensitive receptors.

When AcChol "rings the doorbell" at these receptors, the cells respond by releasing Nitric Oxide, thereby causing the surrounding smooth muscle to relax. This results in the observed vasodilation....
