Due to soluble impurities.

Water is a universal solvent. So many things are dissolved in water. Now a days many substances are mixed in water . They are chemical wastage and mixed in water without treatment. They are absorbed by soil with water. As they are soluble, they are found in underground water. Thus underground water is polluted.
