Stress and anxiety issues are closely linked to sensory sensitivity and processing, See below

Explanation:

Information from the 5 senses are by themselves nothing. When this information is conveyed to the brain and processed for an outcome, then it becomes significant.

So stress and anxiety issues are closely linked to sensory sensitivity and processing, as high levels of stress due to external stimuli, caused internally, or if the person is by nature highly sensitive, basically affects the pathway and the way the brain processes the information.

You could have mismatch of different senses with incoherent interpretation and the responses could be far from normal.
