How does the angular size of the sun and the moon effect an eclipse?

Both Earth and Moon moves in elliptical orbits around Sun and earth respectively.
Explanation:
When the Earth is near to sun (Perihelion)
we see the suns disk a little bit large..When we are far away sun's disk is little smaller.
The same things happens with Moon's disk.
When Sun is near to earth and moon is far way the moon's disk can not completely eclipse the Sun.So a ring of light remains around sun.We call this as annual eclipse
During normal eclipses Moon cover the sun's disk fully and a total solar eclipse happens. .
