In a reflex arc - sensory --> interneuron --> motor neuron

The sensory neurons of your peripheral nervous system (PNS) detect information in your environment and transmit it to your central nervous system (CNS).

your CNS is composed of interneurons that process this information and determine a response. This response is transmitted back to the PNS via motor neurons.

motor neurons carry the response signal to the appropriate tissue group for the reflex arc to be complete.
