Liberty thus became the core identity of the United States

Explanation:

The Constitution is the first authentic constitution in human history, its emphasis was on fundamental freedoms such as freedom of reunion, speech, religion or opinion. The right to a fair trial, to bear arms and to privacy are other instances.

The Constitution is made of two parts, the Seven Articles which were written in 1787 by Madison and rafified in 1789 when nine of the thirteen original colonies officially ratified it, and the 1791 Bill of rights(made of ten amendments). Those amendments promote individual liberties.

The Constitution contributed in forging American national identity since unlike most European nations, the people did not have common traditions and customs to share to created a common identity. Thus freedom and opportunity for all became common ideals alike to national identities in Europe in the process of nation building in the 19th century.
