How is a comet different from a meteor?

1 Answer

A Meteor is a small body which can be a rocky object or even a comet, which enters the Earth's atmosphere and gets heated into bright trail that you see in the sky. It is made of hot gases left in the wake of the material ejected from the falling object.

Comets, according to the most current theories, are chunk of ice, dust, and gas . They speed toward the sun. Most comets originate from the Oort cloud which lies at the edge of the solar system.
