How is food absorbed?

1 Answer

Explanation:

Firstly the food is chewed up and then swallowed and the bolus(food ball) travels to the esophagus and then into the stomach.

The stomach secretes pepsin and hydrochloric acid to break down the food. Once that's done, the remaining food goes to the small Intestine, where small finger-like projections that absorb the nutrients, vitamins, proteins from the food.

These nutrients are then absorbed by the walls of the small intestine which the nutrients will flow into the bloodstream to be used by the body **
