How much of our DNA is identical to the DNA of a chimp?

Most reports say that at least 98% of our DNA matches with the DNA of chimps. They have 24 pair of chromosomes instead of 23 pair seen in us, but that one pair is not lost. Two ape chromosomes are fused to form chromosome 2 in human genome.

Explanation:

Total 18 chromosomes are identical in both the species, chromosome Y is definitely different. According to some evolutionists 98.8 % DNA sequences are similar in man and chimp, yet they are so different! That can be explained by another aspect of genetics: that though they share almost all the genes, expression of genes vary. Time and intensity of expression of genes are not same.
