How much would it cost in US dollars to buy 1 gallon of gas in France?

The value of the Euro was recently equal to 1.20 US dollars and the price of 1 liter of gasoline in France is 1.42 Euro... so the question above ^^...

I'm wondering if you could share the line of equation you set up for this? I have quite a few problems like this, and am wondering the steps into how you begin to find this..?

Thanks in advance :)

Well #"1 US gallon"-=3.785*L#

Explanation:

And the fact that the #"1 US gallon"# is DIFFERENT from the #"Imperial Gallon"=4.55*L# is one reason why we tend not to use these pernicious units in science.....

Anway let's try to address your problem dimensionally.....we want to buy #"1 gallon"#...

#1*cancel"gallon"xx3.785*cancelL*cancel"gallon"^-1xx€1.42*cancel(L^-1)xx$1.20*"USD"*€^-1#

#=$6-45*"USD"#.

Please go over this; I would not trust my arithmetic.

And by the way, if you were in France you would be expected to use the local currency. If you tried to pass USD at anywhere but a bank, the staff would suspect you of being a gangster, and call the rozzers.
