I agree with your work.

Explanation:

I agree that the particle will move up with acceleration. The only way the positively charged particle would accelerate towards the positively charged bottom plate is if the charge on that plate was so weak that it was less than the acceleration due to gravity.

I believe that whoever marked A as being the answer made a mistake.
