The derivation of the above is complex, but not difficult to comprehend. basically its a balace of the atmospheric pressure of air against the pressure within the drop caused by the surface tension of the drop.

In brief the pressure difference between the inside and outside of the water drop will be $\delta P = 2 \frac{S}{d}$

Pressure is Force/unit area.

The area of the drop is A, which makes the force $F = 2 S \frac{A}{d}$
