Right now, there are just eight 'Apostles' left because of the collapse of the ninth.

These limestone stacks off the coast of Victoria, Australia, were formed over eons by erosion under the harsh climatic conditions. It is accepted that first caves were formed, then arches, and, finally the stacks so creatively known.

The ninth collapsed sometime in 2005, leaving eight standing. The erosion continues since the limestone is particularly prone to being eroded by the strong ocean waves. However, new stacks might appear as the headlands are also being simultaneously eroded.
