Reabsorption occurs next to filtration during processing of urine in nephron.
Explanation:
Filtration:
- Firstly, blood passes through glomerulus. The walls of the glomerulus are porous.
- Thus, blood is filtered into Bowman’s capsule.
- This is a special filtration. The blood pressure in glomerulus provide the necessary filtration pressure.
- The filtrate coming out of the glomerulus is called glomerular filtrate. So, this is the end of the filtration process.
Reabsorption:
- Now, the glomerular filtrate gets its way towards the proximal convoluted tubule where the reabsorption starts.
- The filtrate contains numerous useful substances like glucose, amino acids, salts etc.
- The proximal tubule reabsorbs all the useful substances from the gromerular filtrate.
- Thus, the filtrate mostly contains nitrogenous wastes hen it leaves the proximal tubule.
This process is called reabsorption.
