Industrialization resulted in wages for workers which allowed for luxury items to be present in households.

Explanation:

With the rise of industrialization, people began to earn wages and have scheduled work hours. With wages, middle class could afford to have luxury items. This resulted in a better quality of life for the middle class until World War I. When World War I started, many men joined the military, which meant women and children had to work in the factories. Because of this, many children did not go to school and were illiterate.
