I'm pretty sure it's a chemical process.

Explanation:

Combustion is an exothermic reaction that produces heat and light. In a combustion reaction, a fuel (usually hydrocarbons) react with oxygen gas to form carbon dioxide gas and water.

Since it involves the creation of new substances, it is therefore a chemical reaction.

An example of a common combustion reaction is the combustion of methane:

#CH_4(g)+2O_2(g)->CO_2(g)+2H_2O(g)#

where methane is #CH_4#.
