#### Explanation:

Jason starts with 24 gumballs.

He gives $\frac{2}{3}$ to Marcy - and so he gave away:

$24 \times \frac{2}{3} = \frac{24}{1} \times \frac{2}{3} = {\cancel{24}}^{8} / 1 \times \frac{2}{\cancel{3}} = 8 \times 2 = 16$

And so he has $24 - 16 = 8$ left.

He then gave $\frac{3}{4}$ away to David - and so he gave away:

$8 \times \frac{3}{4} = \frac{8}{1} \times \frac{3}{4} = {\cancel{8}}^{2} / 1 \times \frac{3}{\cancel{4}} = 2 \times 3 = 6$

And so he has $8 - 6 = 2$ left.
